This is some research I've done for one of our main influence, Gabrielle Aplin. I cover her image and some general facts but mainly focus on her audience which is something that was advised to do following our pitch.

Production: Filming Day 3 - Camden Passage - 29/10/2013
This was the day, we had to return the colleges equipment but as I have always used my camera for the shoots, we decided to continue to film on this day. However, it was only myself (Amirul) and Abida out to film today. We initially planned to film the last two scenes in two separate locations for our music video however once we went to the cafe which had the seating arrangement we hoped to use, we were unable to film there. This was only because the manager was not on site and we needed their permission to film. However, I did leave my email so the person I spoke to could pass it on or let me know if we are able to film. If we are allowed to film, we plan to film on the Monday back from half term in morning. If not, I am sure we will find somewhere else to film.
The second location we filmed at was Camden Passage, a small narrow pathway with market stools and cafes. It is a 5-10 minute walk from college and a lot more convenient as its doesn't take a lot travelling yet it still creates a city feel just like Clink Street. We used this as a substitute to Clink Street as we realised at Clink Street, there would be too many people on location and would take away the attention from Yasmin. We think this new location was better as it wasn't too busy and it enabled us to move around more freely whilst filming and allow Yasmin to feel more confident in her performance. Also, the location had a good background which made it more pleasant to look at.
For this shoot, Yasmin wore a cream/white dress with black bottoms and black shoes along with a red scarf that tied the whole outfit together. The red scarf matched her lipstick which was also red. In total we filmed 6 base-tracks that looked fairly good once we looked back at them. We then headed back to college to review every single base track we recorded and put them on a hard-drive so it saves time in out lesson back.
PRODUCTION: Production Schedule.
Below was our original production schedule.
However our schedule did not go to plan due to the weather and the time change as it got dark earlier. Below is how our schedule actually went after the disruptions.
PRODUCTION: Jewellery Used
Above is a few Jewellery which was worn in the production of the music video Our main piece of jewellery was bangles. The reason for this is because our main audiences are more likely to be girls and therefore would have a interest in jewellery. Often in music video's a comment about what is worn would be mentioned..girls may say 'I really like that dress on her' or 'That necklace is nice, I'd wear that'. The colours of the bangles go with the costume which is worn; most of the time we would see silver or gold jewellery and that is exactly what we used.A silver and red shambala is worn also in the music video; there was time when shambala's were very popular and therefore youngsters would be caught wearing them; the red in this shambala goes with our lipstick used as the synergy as it is red.
If you look really close in all the shots the artist is wearing a gold ring. The gold ring may be seen as symbolising that the artist is asian; the reason being for this is because in asian culture (Bengali) gold is worn often.
A necklace was also worn in some parts of the music video. This necklace stood out and seemes girly and since the core audience would be girls this was worn.
The bangles in the above picture was an idea which I had that we could have included in the music video. Because there was a lot of black costumes worn in the music video I thought that it would be a good idea to wear colourful asian bangles because the artist is from south east asia. The colour of these bangles would have added a bit of colour to the music video as in pop music videos bright colours are expected. We did get a chance to use these bangles because other members of the groups did not think it was a good idea however in future music videos of Yasmin Feruz these colourful asian bangles would be worn.

PRODUCTION: 29/10/2013
Today I had to return the equipment back to the college as we had our turn and other students needed to use the camera for their music video's. Luckily we had Amirul's camera to film a few basetracks with and therefore we found a narrow alleyway near the college and decided to film there. We did four basetracks in this location.
We also visited a location which we wanted to use and asked for permission to film there. Aminul left his email address so we could get a response from the person who was in charge. We will film in this location if our request is accepted. Hopefully if we are successful we will film on the upcoming Monday as neither of us have a lesson in the morning.
After this we returned back to college to put our footage on our hard drive to be safe and get it out of the way. We also did a bit of blogging and went through the footage. We decided to re-shoot the basetracks on Westminister bridge as due to the weather the footage did not come out as well as it could have been.
Hopefully all the filming should be finished fully by the end of next week.
PRODUCTION: Entertainment we found in our locations
Whilst filming our music video we came across a few people which were entertaining others. This was a fun experience as we enjoyed their performances and this brightened up our day. Keek is a very useful app which we came across and thought we would use as we could capture the parts which we liked in 32 seconds.
Yasmin Feruz - Music Video Update
Yasmin Feruz uploaded a vlog on Keek to connect with the audicen and let them know what is happening in the process of the making of her music video in an attempt to promote her new single 'In My City'.

Production: Filming Day 2 - Trafalgar Square & Westminster Bridge - 28/10/2013
After making ways from the London Eye side to Trafalgar square, we all headed towards Subway to have lunch whilst we also realised as we are here, it would be good to film a few base-tracks. Once we had lunch, we went over the footage we recorded and made ways towards the fountains in Trafalgar Square. At first, we filmed to base-tracks but were forced to stop as the rain got heavier which led us to hiding in a cafe where we looked back at the footage we just recorded and came to the conclusion that it wasn't good enough. Once the rain stopped and we were blessed with some sunlight which enabled us to film 4 more base-tracks which were happy with.
We then made ways towards Westminister Bridge/Big Ben to film our last base-track of the day but this was the most frustrating time as the rain would come and go. However after 20 minutes of waiting in a tunnel, the rain stopped and we were able to film 4 base-tracks with the Big Ben in the background however we feel that a re shoot may be needed as the lighting wasn't great here.
In both these locations, out artist Yasmin Feruz wore the same costume which feature a white/cream top along with a brown trousers and cream shoes. We also added a cream scarf which we felt would work well with the whole costume and we plan to use this idea again for another costume in a different location.

Production: Filming Day 2 - London Eye & The Merry-Go-Round - 28/10/2013
On this day, we were pretty weary about filming due to the "storm" which was taking place, luckily it calmed down by 10 in the morning and we all decided to meet up at 12 near London Eye where we filmed the first of many base-tracks. The costume was the polka dots for both the merry-go-round and London Eye. Yasmin wore a polka dot top that had white dots with a black trousers along with some trainers. We felt the polka dots would go with the background that was mainly had circular shapes such as the London Eye itself and the lights of the merry-go-round.
We had some issues with lighting as in merry-go-round scene, it was too bright whilst for the London Eye scene it became to dark. However we did overcome these small but annoying issues by moving around and doing some test shots for lighting. We decided to change the side of the London we shoot from as we felt it would be better to get the front of the landmark rather than the back which led us on a 10 minute hike to the other side of the river. This is where the issues with lighting came as the trees created shadows whilst the bright background created an unintended silhouette of our artist. However we continued film as we worked out a way to avoid the "silhouette".
Annoyingly, it started it rain again so we were forced to pack up but decided to finish of the base-tracks at these locations, and we managed to record 8 in total from the merry-go-round scene and London Eye scene
. We then moved onto our next location which was in Trafalgar Square, a new location which
would be appropriate.

PRODUCTION: 28/10/2013
Today I was unsure weather we would film or not due to the heavy winds and therefore dangerous weather. By around 10 o'clock the storm calmed down and therefore we met up at the London Eye to shoot footage for the music video.
For the London Eye location i wore a poker dot blouse (to fit in with the synergy), black trousers and nike trainers. I chose these trainers because we would like our audience to connect with the artist and we do not want the artist to look like she is 'too good' to wear casual clothing. In this costume we filmed in front of a merrygo round and the london eye. We thought the merrygo round looked nice and would be neat and simple to film next to. Additionally the London Eye is an iconic attraction and therefore we recorded in front of there; many people would find these locations familiar which is a good thing as it represents the artists city.
We then took a lunch break and ate at subway. This was a perfect time to have lunch as it had just started to rain and we did not want to risk the camera's getting damaged and also the artist would not look presentable. After the rain cleared up we went to film in trafalgur square.
In trafalgure square we shot two basetracks however it started to rain again. We then went into a cafe till the rain stopped. The sun then came out and therefore we hurried to start filming and then took another four basetracks. This went very well. After a while we saw very good dancers before moving to our next location.
We went to wesminister bridge and shot our last footage of the day in front of the Big Ben. We had inturruptions from the weather however we decided if we needed to film it again another day then we will and if we do not we will try and fix it up with edits.
We wrapped up the filming for the day and headed home. Throughout the day we did a few vlogs.
PRODUCTION: 27/10/2013
Today the group met up at 12pm at clint street. We decided that we should not use the street to film because it was packed and therefore would effect the filming. Instead we decided to film near the Tate Modern Museum near the trees. For this location i (the artist) wore a black dress; black leggings and black wedges. The colour complemented the location as the trees were white and there was a nice green baxkground. Addiionally the top under the dress was black poker dots which is apart of our synergy as there are dots in the logo of the artist.
We did many basetracks as we used Amirul's camera as well as the canera provided by the college. This allowed us to have extra shots in that location and it also allowed us to finish filming quicker. I was able to change in the tate and this was a great help to us as we did not have to travel to change clothes.
Whilst at in that specific location we passed many amusing things such as men playing instruments and another two men singing. We thought that this was a great first day or filming as the weather was not so bad and we got one location out of the way.
We packed up early today as it was getting dark and cold and this would have effected our performance.

Production: Filming Day 1 - Tate Modern - 27/10/2013
On this day, we filmed the first of many of our base-tracks. This was location outside the Tate Modern which is where the white and black trees were located. Rather than using the trees near the river, we found a better location for the tree scene which had a natural green background along with the trees we were really fond of. The new place didn't have tourists or anyone apart from Yasmin Feruz in the shot which put a lot more attention on her rather than the background.
As suspected, the trees became a great prop for out artist as she was able to move freely around whilst using the trees as a tool to make the visuals a lot more interesting. Her costume also complimented the location and it worked the other way around. Yasmin wore a black dress with black heels, which wasn't quite going with our intentional image of white but we felt it worked fine or better as her having the darkest value made her more of a central figure emphasised by the blackness of her costume
In total, we recorded 6 base-tracks in this location which we feel came out exceptionally good. This was the only thing we recorded that day as we faced some technical difficulties and the day got fairly gloomy and we feel we wouldn't have been able to get shots that would be good enough.
PLANNING: Reflection on Progress
So far i feel that i am doing better with my blogging although i could do more. I feel that through the planning there was a lot of group blogs which helped the group work better together and get more done. Also i feel that more technology was used and this hopefully boosts up my points.
In the production I hope to find more technologies such as vlogs and hopefully find apps which will come into use. An idea of an app would be keek; the reason for this is because there is a time limit for the video and therefore the examiner would not be bored as it is short and simple and very straight-forward to use.

Reflection on Progress
I think since my last post on my progress, I have taken into account some aspects that I mentioned. One of these would be that I have begun to experiment and use other types of softwares/technology such as Final Cut Pro, Slidely, Camtasia and Photobucket. I feel these software have allowed me to present my work a lot more nicely whilst I have been also using Prezi and Slideshare but not as much as before. I feel using these new softwares and technology allowed the blog to come a lot more alive and more interesting to watch. Within these software, I have mainly used them to present images and videos which required little to none writing which could make it more enjoyable for you to read but I feel when the writing was required, such as the audience and synergy pitch, I made sure I wrote in depth and clearly as possible. I did this by including as many examples and research to make the post seem reliable and interesting to relate to which showed through my use of images and technologies in these posts.
IMPROVEMENTS:
Make some posts which are not listed in the criteria list
and
Possibly do some vlogs or voiceovers as a new introduction to technology
I think I'd have to give myself a 15 again as I feel there as some things I may need to improve such as using a wide array of technology rather than repeating them.
Planning: Synergy for Our Artist
Throughout the promotion for our artist, Yamin Feruz, we plan to take and showcase her image into all promotional products. We feel her image represents her core audience of young adults who are in the midst of their studies. This image focuses around the idea of simplicity with a hint of stylishness which is something we will take into all promotion as it will make Yasmin a lot more identifiable by her audience as an artist and brand image.
This simplicity will come from light colours such as white and cream but we feel if this colour is used in combination with a bold, hard hitting, eye catching and ball tingling colour such as a red, blue or black it will add a sense of stylishness. Nevertheless, we feel it would also attract attention as the colours would be considered, 'eye catching'. These colours will be used in our music video to help build up our artists image. Her costume will focus on these colours whilst we plan to add more stylishness through some accessories such as silver/bronze bangles, rings and necklaces. This image could easily be integrated into each of our synergy products such as the digipack and poster. These will have the costume that is worn in the music video which represents our artist and her audience whilst it also highlights her brand image. We also plan to use a scarf on the artist where it is placed on the next rather than the head, it could contain a bold colour which helps attract some attention from our artists target audience. This costume could be used in the digipack as the foundation to her brand image.
Another thing we hope to integrate into all our promotion is polka dots. This idea came from our logo for our artist names which features some dots around the name. We think the dots possess the same simplicty and stylishness from the colours we chose. The various thickness in the text is what sets apart the names and has the stylish yet simple feel. Also the dots around the text also helpemphasise that feel. This logo is what will be appearing for all our promotional products such as the music video, digipack and poster.
For the music video, we plan to open the video with the our artist name which could be done with the logo of the artist. The song name will also accompany the name whilst we will also have our artist wear atleast one costume that has polka dots. This costume will be constantly repeated depending on how we edit. Also, for the music video, we plan to use compositions of blurred circles that will overlay the video to create the stylised effect. This effect could be created from out of focused lights, such as car lights, city lights etc...This overlay of the compositions could also be taken into our other promotional products as it may also help attract attention to our artist. Below is an example of how the lights could potentially look as a composition.

Pitch Feedback! forgive my awkwardness pls.
This is an awkward little vlog with multiple awkwardness from unplanned pauses for obvious reasons such as dramatic effects...k i lied..i cant think on the spot. soz.
I talk about the feedback from the pitch which we did on Monday. This was recorded in the morning when i had nothing to do and i thought a vlog would be good. I even put a clean shirt on to look more presentable and brushed my teeth, fixed my hair. This was like the 5th take i took because the others were even more awkward and had some foul language which my mother and probably Mary and Rebecca would totally punish me for.
PLANNING: Synergy for our music video
For our music video we intend to have a theme of poker dots. This goes along with the artists logo as there are spots in the logo. We thought that poker dots are also in fashion therefore fans may want to carry on wearing them for longer. Poker dots are also common these days and therefore we will make our artist seem like they are an individual like other people; she is no different.
We thought that the artist could wear a black and white poker dot blouse in the music video as blouses are also in fashion and they look nice too. Since we wanted light colours in our music video this could also help as the poker dots would be white. Additionally I was able to get a top with black poker dots which would look nice under one of the dresses worn in the music video.
Additionally we though that we could use a scarf to go around Yasmin Feruz's neck to give her a bit of style; we though this could also help because it is vital for the weather we will be filming in as it will be cold and possibly raining. The scarf also adds a touch of colour to the music video and will make the music look nicer. Since the potential artist normals wears a scarf around her head we thought it would be nice to still include the scarf in some form.

Lastly Red;Pink lipstick would be used throughout the music video to portray our artist. We chose this colour as it is between pink and red and therefore differs from other music video's.
Planning: Final Logo
After some discussions, we changed our logo to the one below. We took some aspects from each logo and came up with this. The main difference is the thick line which separates the first name and surname but after removing the line, we realised the thickness of the text is enough to separate the names. Also we feel the whole logo looks a lot more stylish whilst maintaing the simple look.

Planning: Potential Logo for Our Artist? - Yasmin Feruz
These are the logos that were created in Photoshop for out artist. We feel it goes with our whole idea of being simple yet stylish. The simplicity comes from the simple font which is all in lower case whilst the stylishness comes from the stripes and dots which could be a possible motif for our artist. This logo is something we could use throughout all our promotion as a form of synergy.
One of these will hopefully be the potential logo. |

Planning: Core and Wider Audience
CORE AUDIENCE –
SPECIFIC
The core audience would be 16-18 year old girls who
are either working class or middle class (these classes are more likely to
listen to music and are likely to buy her albums). However Upper class may also
enjoy her music as the original artist Ellie Goulding performed 'Your Song' at the reception of the
Royal Wedding and this may be because those who are in this class like the
songs which she has made. This audience is likely to live in urban cities such
as London as the music video will be shot around London; tourist attractions
will be filmed such as the London Eye and Big Ben and therefore the audience
will be familiar with the location and setting. Additionally the content
of the music video will appeal to the audience as this artist may be seen as a
role model and therefore other girls may want to be like her. Audiences may
also be appealed as this artist may be seen as 'different' and therefore
original.
WIDER AUDIENCE
After having a core audience there is always a wider audience. The wider audience could be other individuals who like the artists music in general - they may not want to be like the other artists but may be entertained by the music made my her. This wider audience would be ages 11-15 years old and those who are other young adults to middle aged women; this wider audience could be related to the core audience (sisters, mother, aunties and so on). The music video will also appeal to these audiences as they will also be living in cities - more likely to be urban cities such as London, Manchester, Birmingham and so on; these cities are vibrant and multi-cultural and therefore there is no specific ethnic group.
THEIR EXPECTATIONS
Our song choice for our music video is from the pop
genre and is a pop-ular genre in the music
industry. Fans of these genres expect quite a few things such as:
•Attractive individuals/Voyeurism for sex appeal
–Good looking
artists/actors who provide sexual gratification i.e. One Direction or Rihanna
•Good editing which invites the audience to watch
–Edits
in sync with the beat to make it more enjoyable to watch
•Compelling narrative/storyline which pulls in audience
–A
storyline/narrative that is interesting leaves the audiences wanting to know
whole story
•Visuals are linked to the lyrics
•A young artist that is fashionable and stylish
–The
young artist could relate to the young audience who need fashion influences
•A role model or someone who can be obsessed over
– The artist/s could be
a person who is so inspiring becomes the
audiences obsession and role model.
PLANNING - Promoting our artist
We have made an official twitter and instagram account in order to promote our artist.
Instagram will update what this artist see's; shoots of her music video and pictures of her will be put up on this. There will be a place where fans are able to leav comments and like her posts. Additionally this updates her fanbase on what is happening in her life.
Twitter will update fans on what the artist is up to. The artist may choose to tell her fans to check her out; buy her albums; listen to her new music and so on. All this will lead into her having more and more people knowing about her and following her.
https://twitter.com/Yasmin_Feruz
Both of these social networking sites will enable her to build her fanbase and make her a big artist.

PLANNING - Potential Artist
We have decided that Abida Amani Uddin will be the potential artist as she is the only girl in our group. She will pose to be Yasmin Feruz and will be in the music video which we will make along with our digipack. We feel that she is a perfect candidate for this role as she is a confident, young and feels she could be a role model for the general pop genre audience.

PLANNING - Set Up of Social Networks
Twitter Account: @candi_group20
Yasmin Feruz was used because this is the name of the our music video artist; the singer.Just started so lets hopefully get it up and RUNNING ! |
Instagram Account: @Group_20 #Group_20
instagram is the most effiecent way to share pictures and show a some sort of storyboard of the process of our research > planning > filming + Finishing !Making the profile public allows millions of users to view the image and decide to love or loath the image or leave comments that may benefit us or not. |
PLANNING - Influential Music Videos
MUSIC VIDEOS INFLUENCE (Music Videos can be found on YouTube)
The first music video I looked at was Cassie - Me and You and i specifically looked at the way she has direct eye contact with the camera to create that extra personality that makes her feel powerful to the audience.
Another music video that I looked at was Smiler - Its-a-happening! from 1:07 to 1:21 there is the use of split screens and this idea is something we would like to incorperate into our music video.
These are the two that I looked at to make a link to how our music video will come out. Other music videos I have looked at just have the same features most music videos have. Lighting, Location and Costumes are all adapted to the genre and what the song is trying to say.
PLANNING - Audience for planning
Audience information. (Research & Planning for M.V )
Audience is one of the main things to think about when planning a music video. I have looked at specifcally; different types of audiences. More than 70% of females watch music videos from recent questionaires.
I also found out that almost 80% of the population that watch music videos have an age range of 16s to 20 year olds.
As a result more females watch music videos. |
Psychographic profile of the Audience By Emadul Rahman
PLANNING - Risk Assessment
PLANNING - Andrew Goodwin's Theory (Connected)
PITCH PLANNING
As part of the creating of the music video we have to consider the theories we have looked at. Andrew Goodwins theory is one of the main ones that is easy to understand and easy to put into our own music video.
A Short Prezi Explaining how we will do this.

My Experience on a Music Video Set!
Date: Wednesday 9th of October 2013
Time: 10:00 am to 8:30 pm
Location: Walthamstow, in a house (with a dog)
So, I was given the opportunity to be a runner on a music video set for a UK based artist. It's a tiring job which requires constant running, helping with lunch, carrying stuff, grabbing stuff and stuff in general but its a great way to build contacts and network as you spend most of the day helping people in the "media" industry.Throughout that day, I spent most of my time helping the gaffer who essentially handles all the electrics and lighting. I helped put up lights, take down lights and carry lights. I learnt a few things about lights from the wiring to the actual names of lights such as the 2500 watt light, which I'm still confused about. Don't ask. But I spoke to the gaffer about how he got into the industry, and we conversed on many occasions about career options and aspirations whilst I also spoke to the actor involved in the shoot about the same things.
I was able to witness the making of a legit music video which gave me an insight in what it consists of and how they are done on a professional level. It was a great learning experience as I learnt the use of base-tracks and the slow motion effect. The filmed scenes in one go to make a base-track whilst using a variety of shots and angles in the same scene. Watching the construction of a music video from the background, provided minimal yet helpful knowledge in directing a production as I observed the director who maintained his vision of the video and practically dismissed any other. The production cast included the director, the director of photography (DOP), a gaffer, a production assistant, me - the runner and obviously the artist. I noticed how the director must maintain a relationship with the director of photography as he makes the directors vision of the video come true as he frames the shot. The director must also direct the artist and the actors in their performances whilst the DOP directs the camera people and gaffer for light assistance.
I took a few pictures of the day from behind the camera of what actually occurs and what direction is needed within a music video production.

RESEARCH - Self-Reflection as a Media Student
COMPARISON.
AS > A2
Ive been able to blog more easily by adding in media with everything i write and i have learned to use media usefully. For example when you look at a music video and you like a specific bit instead of uploading the whole video I rather take a screen grab or create a gif with the screen grabs to demonstrate the ideas that i have about the video. Additionally i have learnt to work more independently yet use each other in a group as a resource for reassurance and teamwork when it comes to problem solving with location, filming and writing blogs. The strongest blogs to me are the ones created as a group.
Use of ICT: 14/20 (Need to use more or use them more creatively)
Detail in Blog: 10/20 (I spend less on detail and more thinking time)
IMPROVEMENTS NEEDED !!!
*Speed up on Blogging
*Organisation
*Be detailed in blogs
AS > A2
Ive been able to blog more easily by adding in media with everything i write and i have learned to use media usefully.

Teacher feedback for Emadul
Hello Emadul
I'm marking your blog (Mary is marking Abida's and Ami's).
Here's some feedback: your blog count is 17 which is not quite where we expect you to be at this point - four weeks in....average of just about 4 posts a week is not quite there. We would expect you to be around the mid 20s at this point. You are missing some of the blogs that we required to be completed for the first deadline - don't miss out the skills audit and reflection on progress blogs as these are so important for the A2 exam (you come back to this blog in March to revise what you did in the way of skills development...). I need you to quickly catch up with all the missed blogs, to start with. I also need you to blog off the task sheet too - we expect you to do this every week but I've not seen many of these yet. Don't jeopardise your A2 coursework by falling behind - you've got the potential to do really well (and Ami and Abida have done more blogs.....).

RESEARCH - Reflection on Progress (Research)
Reflection on Progress so far.
In my opinon I think that my progress is alright; I do think that I am doing better than I did last year due to the use of Prezi and Microsoft Powerpoint. Additionally I feel that I am including more videos and pictures in my blogging this year allowing the person who is marking it to be less bored. I feel that this year there is a lot of team work which is also helping me boost my blogging up as I have more help and understand more.
Personally I would give myself a mark from 12-16. This is because I have average amount of detail in my blogging. There could be more of a variety of ICT used such as gif's. Additionally I intent to just take parts of music video's instead of blogging the entire music for people to see as it would get boring and irrelevant.
Three things I think I need to improve
1) Use more ICT formats (E.g - Gifs).
2) Make more blogging more clear and consistent.
3) Do more blogging outside of the checklist to gain more marks.

Planning - Our artists name
In order to think of a name to our artist we had to consider where the artist would be from. We decided that our artist would be asian - the reason for this is because we would like to make a difference to other ethnicities as you do not normally see an artist who in South East asian singing pop songs.
the first name 'Yasmin' was agreed on as it is a name which many people have of any ethnicity. Then we had trouble thinking of a last name. Therefore we had to research on the world wide web. We went on baby name websites to see if any appealed to us.

We then decided to look up a few actresses which would have a nice surname - we did not agree to any.
We then looked up common surnames in Bangladesh on Wikipedia.
We also looked up indian actresses to maybe see if any of the actresses would fit our first name.
Soon we decided to check our followers on Twitter and Instagram to see if any of our follower had appealing names. Soon we found two which we had to pick out of which seemed to sound good.
We finally decided on the surname 'Feruz'. It sounds like a unique name and not popular and therefore we decided to use it.
Final Name: Yasmin Feruz
PLANNING - 3 influencial music video's
I have analysed 3 music video's which have influenced the final planning of the production. I will adapt/use idea's within these three music video's in the music video.
Rizzle Kicks - Lost Generation (Camerawork)
The music video 'Lost Generation' by the two young artists have influenced the planning of the music video which my group and I will create. The camerawork in this music video was very useful to me as I realised that many of the shots that have been used occur to other music video's also. Base-tracking has been used throughout the music video; this allows their music video to have an amazing structure as it is neat and the shots change along with the beat. The base tracks gives an order to this music video - In my opinion this will be essential to have in the production of our music video as we would like our music video to also look neat and have an amazin structure. Additionally just as other music video's have an enormous amount of jump cuts this music video also presents a high number of jump cuts. The use of jump cuts will engage the audience of the music video and keep them watching which we would like our audience to do also. A various amount of shots are used in this music video; from close ups to long shots. It is essential that we use many types of shots as we would lose fans for our artist as well as not get high marks for the production. Lastly but not least the 4th wall is broken in this music video as it is in majority music video's - we shall do this too in order to build a relationship with the viewer.
This gif includes long shots, over the shoulder shot, medium shot and medium long shot.
The Saturdays - Disco Love (Mise-en-scene)
The music video 'Disco Love' by the girl group The Saturdays was amazing when presenting the mise en scene. It is a very structured music video in the sense of mise en scene. Whilst analysing this music video there was 3 clear settings where all the girls also had three different outfits to fit in with the setting. In my opinion this would be a good idea in the production of our music video as it looks neat and structures. Since we are planning on having more that two locations used it would be a good idea to have more clothing; in my opinion having more outsits and settings used the music video will look appealing and the use of costume and setting will prevent the music video from being dull and boring. The use of the different costumes would help when producing a album cover as we would have more options of what should be worn in the album cover. I feel that just like previous research there should be a relation between the music video and album cover.
This gif shows the three different settings and three different dress styles.
The single 'Disco Love' has a picture of the 5 artists wearing the roller skates that they wore in the music video.
Smiler - Its-A-Happening (Editing)
The music video 'Its-A-Happening' by the male artist has greart aspects of editing. I feel that these editing skills could also be used in the production of our music video. In the beggining of the music video a nice font is added saying the artists name and the name of the song - there is a black background and the font changes colour; this looks nice and would be a good idea to introduce our new artist. In some parts of this music video there is more than one image/shot on the screen and it is used in a good way. There are shots of the artist near a shot of the setting; we could adapt this idea and have our artist near a shot of the city as that is the theme of the song 'In my City'. Instead of filming random locations we could shoot tourist attractions as they are the things which is known well not by only people living in London but also by others accross the world(e.g. Big Ben).
This is a snippet of the beginning of the music video where the name of the song and the artist is shown.
Here is a snippet of the split screen which were used in this music video which we will also use in our music video.

This snippet from the music video shows a clear basetack which i liked in the big brother looking chair.
